We’re opening our arms to a new wave of technologies but have yet to be won over by wearable technology, despite all the hype around the Apple watch. Just 25% of people believe that wearable technology will improve their day-to-day life. Although one-in-10 thinks that wearable technology will actually make their lives harder. The new term from Will.i.am, Fashionology which is a merging of the worlds of fashion and technology which is how he describes his collaboration with Gucci represents.

Although 56% of people in the survey are looking forward to the benefits of connected home devices. 3 in 10 people expect driverless cars and 3D printers will improve their everyday experiences. During the budget speech on Wednesday it was announced that £100m is going to go into the development fund for driverless cars and £40m for research in to the internet of things.

With millions of smartwatches already been brought Apple’s entrance in to this market could change the general thought on wearable technology. After all, how many people thought they needed a personal digital music player before the iPod was released?
